Notice Regarding Academic Misconduct in Examinations and Reports
July 15, 2026
Faculty of Sustainability Studies
Dear Students,
The spring semester of the 2026 academic year is coming to an end, and final exams and written assignments will soon begin. Please check Hoppii and your syllabi again to confirm how your courses will be assessed.
In this regard, we would like to remind all students about academic misconduct in exams and written assignments. Hosei University has established disciplinary standards for such misconduct.
Examples of academic misconduct include using a smartphone without permission during an exam, looking at another student’s answers, using another person’s work without clearly indicating the source (inappropriate citation), submitting work written by someone else (plagiarism), improperly collaborating with other students, and fabricating data or figures.
Depending on the nature and seriousness of the case, such misconduct may result in a failing grade, a formal warning, suspension, or other disciplinary action.
Every year, some students are disciplined for actions such as using a smartphone during an exam or asking a friend to share an assignment or report with them.
They may not fully understand what constitutes academic misconduct or may simply take the matter too lightly.
However, such conduct is unacceptable for university students. If academic misconduct occurs, the Faculty will take strict disciplinary action in accordance with University regulations.
Please maintain a strong awareness of ac/_wp_link_placeholderademic integrity and never engage in academic misconduct. Thank you for your attention.
